Areas we serve · Bayside
Your Bayside accountant, actually based in Bayside.
Summit Tax works from 443 Nepean Hwy, Brighton East, near the middle of the municipality. From Brighton down to Beaumaris, we do fixed-fee tax, BAS, bookkeeping and advisory for small business owners, with a CPA and Registered Tax Agent you can actually get on the phone.
Individual returns from $390 · Business tax & advisory from $220/month.
Bayside is about 37 square kilometres. Nothing in it is more than fifteen minutes from the office, which is why "we'll meet you" is a real offer here rather than a line on a website.

Small business in Bayside
Bayside does not have one business district, it has a chain of them running down the bay. Church Street and Bay Street in Brighton carry the fashion, homewares and hospitality trade. Hampton Street and Sandringham's Station Street run more towards everyday retail, cafes and services. Beaumaris and Black Rock are quieter and more residential, with allied health practices and trades working out of home. Highett and Cheltenham, at the southern end, hold most of the light industrial and warehouse space left in the area.
The common thread is that these are mostly owner-operated businesses turning over somewhere between a few hundred thousand and a few million, with the owner doing the quoting, the invoicing and, too often, the bookkeeping. They are big enough to have real tax questions and too small to have anyone internal answering them.
The second thread is property. Bayside has some of the highest land values in Melbourne, so an unusual number of business owners here also hold an investment property, a commercial premises, or the building the business trades from. That changes the work. Land tax, capital gains timing, whether the premises should sit in the trading entity or outside it, and what happens to all of it at succession are live questions here in a way they are not in most of Melbourne.
What we spend most of our Bayside time on
- Company and trust structures that were set up years ago and no longer fit the business
- Family trust distributions and the annual resolutions that must be right before 30 June
- Investment and commercial property held alongside a trading business, including land tax and CGT timing
- Sole traders crossing the GST threshold and needing BAS to become routine rather than a quarterly panic
- Trades and home-based businesses claiming vehicles, tools and home-office costs properly
- Succession and exit planning for businesses that have been trading in the area for decades
Accountants for every Bayside suburb
Pages for the suburbs we work in most, and we cover the rest of the municipality from the same office.
We also work with businesses in Black Rock, Beaumaris, Cheltenham, Highett and Hampton East. There is no separate page for those suburbs because there is nothing different about the work, and a page that just swaps the suburb name in is worth nothing to you. Call or book and we will talk about your actual business.
Why choose a Bayside firm over a city one
Three honest reasons, and one reason that is not true.
You are not paying for a CBD tower
A competitor firm publishes the Melbourne market rate on their own website as $150 to $400 an hour, or $250 to $800 a month on retainer. We start below the bottom of that range, and the fee is tax deductible on top.
You deal with the person doing the work
There is no account manager between you and your accountant. The CPA who signs your return is the one who answers the phone, which is why questions get answered in hours rather than being queued behind a partner's calendar.
Meeting in person is realistic
Fifteen minutes from anywhere in Bayside. For a structure conversation or a bad year, sitting across a table beats a video call, and here that is not a half-day out of your week.
Not: "local firms know local tax"
They do not. Tax law is federal and identical in Brighton and Bendigo. What is genuinely local is knowing your industry, your landlord, your customers and your council, and being close enough that seeing you is easy.

Google ReviewQuestions we hear from Bayside
All of them. The office is at 443 Nepean Hwy, Brighton East VIC 3187, close to the middle of the municipality, so Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham, Black Rock, Beaumaris, Cheltenham, Highett and Hampton East are all a short drive. We also work with clients in Bentleigh, Elwood and Moorabbin just outside the Bayside boundary.
No. Most Bayside clients meet over Google Meet and send documents through a secure portal. The office is there when a conversation is genuinely easier face to face, which is usually structure and planning work rather than routine compliance.
Individual tax returns start at $390. Ongoing business tax, BAS and advisory starts at $220 a month for a GST-registered sole trader and $350 a month for a company or trust. Every fee is fixed and agreed before any work starts, and the fee is itself tax deductible. Full detail is on the pricing page.
No. 42 Advisory, a Melbourne firm, publishes the market rate on their own site as $150 to $400 an hour or $250 to $800 a month on retainer. We start below the bottom of that range. A CBD firm carries CBD overheads and generally bills them back to you.
Yes, and at any time of year. We send the professional clearance letter, request your prior returns and depreciation schedules, and handle the handover. The one step that has to be yours is nominating us as your agent in ATO Online Services, which the ATO no longer permits an agent to do for a client. It takes about ten minutes and we send you the exact screens. There is more detail on switching accountants.
- On time, every time. Every lodgement in on time, provided your records reach me by the date on your calendar.
- The price you agreed, and no other. Your fee is agreed in writing before any work starts, and it doesn't go up for 12 months.
- Never locked in. No fixed term. If it isn't working, end it with 30 days' notice and I'll hand your file to your next accountant promptly.
