Brighton businesses tend to be established and successful, which usually means more complexity: trusts, investment properties, capital gains and structuring questions. That's exactly the work I do best. Meet at my Nepean Hwy office, over Google Meet, or by phone.

Small business in Brighton
Brighton's business community is built around two strips. Church Street carries the fashion, homewares and hospitality trade, while Bay Street runs more towards services, health and everyday retail. Behind both sits a large base of professionals and consultants working from home offices, and a generation of family businesses that have been trading in the area for decades.
That maturity changes the accounting work. Brighton clients are less likely to be asking whether they need an ABN and more likely to be asking whether the trust distribution is right, how a second investment property affects their land tax, or what happens to the business when the next generation takes over. Those are planning conversations, and they don't happen if your accountant only calls you once a year.
What that usually means for your tax
- Family trust distributions and the annual resolutions that have to be right before 30 June
- Companies and trusts operating together, with the personal returns for the family handled alongside
- Investment properties and share portfolios, including capital gains planning before you sell
- Succession and structure reviews for businesses that have outgrown how they were originally set up

Questions I hear from Brighton
Yes, much of my Brighton client work involves companies and family trusts with rental properties, share portfolios and structuring questions alongside the business itself. I handle the whole picture: business compliance, personal returns for the family, and year-round planning so nothing falls between the cracks.
My office is at 443 Nepean Hwy, Brighton East, a few minutes from anywhere in Brighton. Most clients actually prefer Google Meet for regular catch-ups and save the in-person meetings for bigger planning conversations. Either works.
It's less work than people expect, and I do nearly all of it. I contact your previous accountant for your prior returns, financials and depreciation schedules and handle the handover from there, so there's no awkward conversation for you to have and no gap in your lodgements. The one step that has to be yours is nominating me as your agent in ATO Online Services, which the ATO no longer permits an agent to do on a client's behalf. It takes about ten minutes and I send you the exact screens. Sole traders are generally exempt.
Yes, and they're better handled together. Rental income, depreciation, interest deductibility and any capital gain interact with how you draw money from the business and what your marginal rate ends up being. Splitting that across two advisers is how people end up with a surprise tax bill in the year they sell.
- On time, every time. Every lodgement in on time, provided your records reach me by the date on your calendar.
- The price you agreed, and no other. Your fee is agreed in writing before any work starts, and it doesn't go up for 12 months.
- Never locked in. No fixed term. If it isn't working, end it with 30 days' notice and I'll hand your file to your next accountant promptly.
