What to have ready

Your income

Your income statement is usually pre-filled from the ATO, we'll check it's complete, including any allowances.

Your deductions

Receipts, a logbook if you claim car use, and rough work-versus-private splits for phone and home office.

The extras

Private health statement, spouse details, and any investment, rental or share information.

Last year

If you're switching to us, last year's return helps us pick up anything carried forward.

Common questions

The fixed-rate method is simplest, a set rate per hour worked from home that bundles electricity, internet, phone and stationery, needing only a record of your hours. The actual-cost method can give a bigger deduction if you have a dedicated space and higher running costs, but needs more records. We calculate both and use the winner.

Premiums for income protection held in your own name (outside super) are generally deductible. Life, trauma and TPD cover usually aren't. If yours is bundled or held through super, we'll work out the deductible portion.
